About

An engineer by training.
A project manager by instinct.

I'm Bindushree — an Electronics & Communication engineer from Bengaluru, now finishing a Master's in Engineering Management at the University of Leicester. Somewhere between debugging circuits and running sprint reviews, I realised the part I loved most wasn't the hardware. It was the plan: getting eight people, three departments and one deadline to move in the same direction.

At ABB I coordinated a cross-functional team through a five-month localisation programme, kept the RAID log honest and translated test data into briefings managers could act on. At Leicester I've led teams through cost, systems and lean engineering programmes — and built a decision-support framework for Industry 4.0 investment as my final project.

Which Industry 4.0
investment comes first?

A decision-support framework for sequencing Industry 4.0 investments in lean surface-mount (SMT) electronics production — modelled on iPhone main-logic-board assembly in China & India's high-volume EMS plants.

THE PROBLEM

A plant manager has £100,000 and four good options.

IoT-enabled SPC. A manufacturing execution system. Machine-learning optical inspection. A digital twin. Every vendor promises a return — but buy the wrong one first and you don't get a smaller return, you often get none at all. The literature agrees Lean and Industry 4.0 reinforce each other. It doesn't say which to buy first, on this line, with this budget.

THE DIGITAL–LEAN SYNERGY MODEL

Four gates between a budget and the right investment.

Level 2 IoT-SPC→ MES Level 3 ML-AOI→ Digital Twin
  1. 01

    Lean maturity gate

A four-level Lean maturity rubric filters which technologies a line is even eligible for. Level 2 lines unlock IoT-SPC and MES; ML-AOI and the digital twin wait for Level 3. Technology on an immature process just digitises the waste.

  2. 02

    Readiness rubric

Organisational, technical and financial readiness are each scored 1–5 to decide when an eligible technology should be deployed — not just whether it could be.

  3. 03

    Technology → KPI mapping

Each technology is mapped to the SMT KPIs it actually moves: first-pass yield (92–98%), defects per million opportunities (50–500) and OEE (60–85%).

  4. 04

    Payback & NPV ranking

A parametric payback / NPV model ranks the eligible options into a recommended sequence — the most return per pound, in the right order, for that specific line.

  • Planning & scheduling. Scoped deliverables and drafted the project plan for TF42 Thermal Overload Relay test-bench localisation; ran 2-week Agile sprints with milestones, acceptance criteria and review gates.
  • Team coordination. Coordinated electrical, automation and QA engineers through JIRA and Trello; facilitated stand-ups and sprint reviews; wrote weekly status reports for three departmental leads.
  • RAID & compliance. Maintained the RAID log and adapted global ABB protocols to Indian BIS/IEC standards — 100% compliance on the first audit, preventing over US$50,000 in certification delays.
  • Delivery & close. Managed two scope changes without slippage across 200+ test cycles; ran the lessons-learned review — Agile-Scrum was then adopted as the divisional standard.

The book that changed how I see work

A PROCESS OF ONGOING IMPROVEMENT

THE
GOAL

Eliyahu M. Goldratt

One bottleneck changed everything I look at.

I picked up The Goal during my engineering degree expecting a textbook. It's a novel about a plant manager with ninety days to save his factory — and it quietly rewired how I think. Its big idea is simple: every system has a constraint, and an hour lost at the bottleneck is an hour lost for the whole system. Optimising everything else is often just busy-work.

I've carried that lens everywhere since. At ABB it meant asking where the test bench was really waiting before adding more people. In my dissertation it became the core question — not "which technology is best?" but "which one first, given where this line actually is?" It taught me that good project management isn't doing more. It's finding the one thing that's holding everything back, and freeing it.

“Find the constraint. Fix the constraint. Then look again.”— the lesson I keep on my desk

Aspirations & motivations

Where I'm heading — and why.

01

Aspiration

To grow from project coordinator to programme manager in UK engineering, infrastructure or technology — and earn Chartered Project Professional status with the APM along the way.

02

What drives me

Making the invisible measurable. I love the moment a messy process becomes a clear dashboard and a team can finally see what to fix first.

03

How I work

Plans people trust. Honest RAG status, early escalation and plain-language reporting — so nobody is surprised on delivery day.

04

Giving back

From NSS clean-up drives in Bengaluru to STEM workshops for secondary school students in Leicester — I want my work to leave places a little better.
